Oil cooler pipes leak

Hi,
My bike has developed a leak from an oil cooling pipe, very close to where it mounts to the engine. This is pretty annoying as if it was further up I could cut out the leaking section and replace it, but it doesn't look like that's going to be possible here. Replacement pipes are very expensive, £90 for a pair of rusty used ones or £160 for one new one.
Am I right in saying that the US model is totally air cooled and doesn't come with an oil cooler at all? Would it be possible to remove the cooling system and convert to air cooled? What would be the best way to do that and would it affect the bike at all?
