Throttle/running issue

Ok guys and gals, I'm having what I believe is a fuel/air issue. I rebuilt the carbs after it sat for a few years, reused parts cause they were not bad, put it back together correctly (or so I think) and now this: it takes forever to start, whole bunch of rotations from the starter, when it finally does start, it dies a bunch till it warms up a bit, don't even think of touching the throttle or it dies, and if you try to not choke it, dies... I think it's not getting enough air, but I totally don't know as this is my first motorcycle. If anyone has had this problem and fixed it, I'd love to hear from you or if your 99% sure you know what it might be, thank you
