Do I have a reg/rec failure?

Strong sulphur smell when riding, from under the seat... Battery failed. Replaced the battery.
A few long rides later, strong sulphur smell when riding, from under the seat... Could actually hear it boiling when you put your ear to it. Battery may fail if I continue to run it. Don't want to replace the battery again until I've fixed the underlying problem.
Do I need a new reg/rec?
