Lots of problems

Hey guys
Trying to get my xj600 to run
It first ticked over but didn't start
Realised Wasn't getting any fuel out of the pri from the tank so I removed the pipe connected to the bottom of manifold 1 and ran a tube with fuel...it then just stopped trying to turn over ....i knew the battery was drained so had it on charge all day today but still nothing ....but it did splutter 3 times and fuel came from the choke plunger on the carb...but now back to nothing
Have I put fuel in the wrong hole and it's just stopped it dead...just weird that it won't even try to turn over but did just before I put fuel in the pri tube
