A rear tire on front

I have a rear Metzeler ME 22 90/90-18 tire installed on front of my pre-diversion XJ600. The tire's thread is looking good and I couldn't notice any difference from my previous front tires apart from a sign "rear tire" written on the tire. I have read that this approach is not generally recommended, but since I'm not looking for a high speed and normally avoid rainy ride, I was wondering whether this is actually an issue to worry about?
