Plans to convert to naked

So when I figure out how to post pictures I will put them up. The bike is currently in the shop for inspection, new fork seals and tires.
I don't have much space to work on it myself (nor the technical know how) as I live in an apartment and can't tinker too much in my parking lot. I'm going to try to keep things pretty basic and have some ideas to run across all of you on this site.
I have searched this site for as much info about converting as I can but in til I start picking apart the bike I won't really know what I can make happen. Here are some ideas as I want to keep cost down as well.
I am going to buy a basic 7" headlight and fork ears from Amazon. I plan to mount the signals on either side of that. I also want to keep the stock gauges and don't know how I will remount them until I get into the bike and get the fairing off. From there my plan was to buy sheets of kydex to creating a housing for the for the gauges and seal it with some kind of caulk to waterproof. I also wanted to either buy or design a wind screen from the kydex. I'm sure many of you are familiar with kydex, if not it's a plastic that can be heated (heat gun, oven) and molded ( often used on gun and knife sheaths). I was also hoping to removing the side plastics and use the kydex to create the coil covers and use them to cover the sides and back for a flatter look that allows the frame to be visible yet still effectively cover the wires and the space in back under the seat with the plastics removed.
I want to be able to return everything to stock if I ever sell it and I do not have the ability or knowledge to start modding the bike risking my ability to ride it this summer if I mess something up. So long winded I know, but does this sound realistic?
