Hallo,

Maybe I ask some stupid questions but, I realy don`t know an answer and would like to have it . I have a dilema if I should open engine top head or not. I have bought head gasket and valve seals and I don`t know what else is needed to buy and replace if I open it (please suggest). I am not planing to take apart pistons so, I will not take out cylinders. But I am thinking more and more on top head. And here is my dilema: if I find all my valves in specs, closing well etc. do I need to resurface top head by default? I mean, if some valve is not making it`s job properly, then for sure I will send all assembly to some garage. But, if it`s not needed, do I need to resurface tophead anyway? Some auto mechanics here (not many bike specialists) are telling me that I have to resurface it by default every time I take head of because, as they say, it will twist and will not be in the specs. Most of them are just sendig top head to rectification without inspecting them. My engine has arround 9000 miles so, I don`t expect to have any problems with it. But I would like just to clean the valves, change valve seals and top head seal, put it back and enjoy. Some friends are telling me not to open the negine because it can be opened when a problem appears. But, on the other hand, I have it off my bike, so it could be a great opportunity to check everything.
I would appreciate your opinions.
