Hello to members of this group, I hope this finds you all well. I have been fixing and riding motorcycles for 15 years and have owned 10+ bikes from Honda, Suzuki, and BMW but this is my first Yamaha. I was looking at FJ1100 and 1200s, and Suzuki 1200 Bandits, but my next door neighbor had this '92 Seca II under a cover. I approached him to buy it, and we settled on a price of $400 plus a ceiling fan (I'm an electrician)! He already replaced the chewed up starter gear and says it worked fine with no leaks from the new gasket, but it has been in storage for 5 years or so. He said it has a few problems: One is that the clutch does not engage gradually, but is either "on or off" and so only jackrabbit starts are possible. The other problem was that he said there was a mystery drain on the battery, and even a fully charged battery went dead from sitting a day or two. The bike has 3850 miles and he included a new AGM and newish lead-acid battery. I haven't even taken the seat off yet, and I was wondering if you have any sort of "canon" order of assessment and repair for a bike out of storage. I don't know what the inside of the tank looks like yet, I'm scared to look! Also, is there a digital or pdf copy of the Haynes or Clymer manual available for download for these bikes? Thanks for all your help. Best, Jerry
