Won't Idle without Choke, Pilot jets or Carb Sync?

I've just bought a XJ 600 Diversion, My first big bike. I had some issues with the exhaust glowing red hot after only a few minutes, That was scary as I thought I'd bought a lemon that needed alot of work, I blew out some of the breather tubes and cleaned out the air box which had a bit of oil in, and it's ok now.

Now my only issue is that the bike dosn't idle without a little choke, The bike had been stood for over a year so I have added some (de-varnish) fuel treatment to the fresh fuel, It idles nicely now with a little choke and revs freely. so what should I do now, balance the carbs or check the pilot jets?

Any advice would be great, I did try setting the idle a little faster but it didn't help.
