Installing '97+ tail sections on an earlier model

I am considering purchasing a complete set of '97 tail plastics, sides, back middle piece, front cover sections. I tried searching but didn't see anything on the topic of actually getting them on the bike. Are they a direct bolt on swap? What exactly is needed to get the newer style tails to fit on the older, 92-96 frames? I do not have. Welder nor welding skills so if there is away to get around welding that would be awesome. Please help me out here guys.
