Single-Person Engine Removal ?

One of the things I want to do with my '97 is refinish the engine and frame. I don't have anyone near me who can help move the engine out so I'll be doing it alone. Once I have the bike stripped down to the frame/engine, If I have the engine drained of oil and the plastic side covers removed, can I lay the engine on it's side and lift the frame off of it? Any ideas how to best approach this?
