Pilot jet replacement

I just got my #20s in the mail today and will be putting them in this weekend. I read Radare's post about the process, but have a couple questions.

He mentioned the carbs don't need to be removed. Is it a lot more difficult to install the jets with the carbs still on the bike? I really don't want to have to remove the carbs, but if it is that much easier, I might do it.

Also, the o rings mentioned in the post. Are ones bought at a decent auto/hardware store fine to use? Is heat an issue with them? Do they need to be special in some way? As always, thanks. :thumbsup:
