Tachometer reading high after rebuild

Hey guys ... me again ...
So i had my clocks dismounted together with the needles on both the speedo and the tach. After i got the back again the RPM is showing way too high ... i would say about 600-1000 rpms higher than it actually is (check it with a digital tack from a 2-stroke chainsaw)
What i did was - get the needle out and not making any marks as what was the position before.
Then after removing the gauges cover and changing a couple of light bulbs for the instruments i got everything back and put the needle on without any glue ..
Now when i put the bike in ignition the tach needle moves a bit up and then gets back dowm ... which is king of interesting since it did not do that before...
Does anyboty know a way to adjust the tach? maybe without putting down the whole front fairing and instruments block again ..?
Or any other thing that i have apparently done wrong again ...?
