High idle after riding

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 95 xj600 and its my first bike. I'm reading the manual but have a question. When I start the bike and warm it up it idles around 1200 rpm. I can snap the throttle open a few times and the idle returns to the stated range. Then I hit the road and ride for about 15-20 min. At that point when I stop at a light in neutral, it's constantly idling at 2500 rpm. Once I shut the bike off and it cools, idle is back at 1200. If I ride it very hard, it can idle at 3000 rpm when in N at a light. I checked the throttle cable and its fine. Turn the wheel all the way left and right, idle remains at 1200 so it tells me that the cable is routed correctly and isn't crimped. Any ideas? Vacuum leak? Carburetor? Thanks for input.
