From NY to California 96' Xj600 in 2013

--Current state of my bike 
-Will try but won't start, no rumbles.
-Carb float bowls didn't drain any fuel.
-I noticed a reddish tint in the fuel when I drained it from my petcock, sign of rust in tank?
-Has a gallon of fresh fuel.
---My plans for the bike
-Get her started firstly
-Complete a naked conversion/ 97' fairing upgrade by winter
-Complete a daring ride across the USA starting in NY and ending in Southern California while making stops in Chicago Colorado and Arizona along the way. I'd also love to meet up with guys on here along the way to ride and do cross country general Maintenence.
