I know. Not a very snazzy title, but it is what it is. :hello:

The time has come for me to start breaking the bike down and restore, upgrade, and slightly modify. For the most part, this is going to be a big project for me. Although I can (and have many times) work on bikes and do a few primary things, never have I gone as far as I am with my XJ. Regardless, all that I'm going to be doing isn't all that much compared to many of what some here have done. Here's the low down:
  • Completely dismantle
  • Change the fork springs
  • Paint the tank and fairings a darker yellow
  • Paint the frame black
  • Paint the engine black
  • Rejet the carbs
  • Install steering damper
  • Prettify the handle bar and controls
  • Clean up the instrument cluster
  • Repair/replace any needed bits
  • Other stuff that's not come to mind
At this time, I'm just in the process of taking the bike apart. As time goes on, I'll try to remember to take plenty of pics of my progress and explain what's going on.
