Took a mid-day, well, 3:45 start time, trip from Morrison Colorado, through Evergreen, past Mt. Evans and into Idaho Springs. From there, I took a soaked ride along I-70 and then Highway 6 back into Golden. Fun ride.
It took about 2 hours with most of the ride being 35 mph or slower. The ride is about 70 miles, Morrison to Golden. There were deer along Squaw Pass Road and the turn-off to Witter Gulch Road had a load of gravel/rock spilled throughout the intersection, but otherwise, the road was clean and fun.
I hit an afternoon thunderstorm with lots of lightning and a good pouring of rain after 5:30. Although the temperature in Denver was a balmy 92F when I left, the temperature near the Mt. Evans turnoff was only 58F. Bear that in mind.
