Help removing the fuel tank?

Could someone let me know how to saftley remove the fuel tank to inspect the air box? I'e been getting a little hesitation when accelerating and what to check the air fiter and air box boots but can't seem to find a how-to on removing the tank? I don't want to spill gass over the place. Any help would be apperciated. Thanks
