Hey guys this is my first post on this forum, and unfortunately its quite a noob-ish question.

So, after ordering new carburetor boots for my ‘84 xv700 I noticed that one of the boots, which previously had 2 hoses coming off (1 combines with the mix control valve, and then to the petcock and the other goes straight to the mix control valve), only had room for 1. I attached the hose that leads to the petcock and left the second hose end on the mix control valve open.

The bike runs, but has other problems so It’s hard for me to tell of this is causing an issue.

My question is: is the hose connecting from my carburetor boot to my mix control valve necessary, or can I just plug it on the valve end?

Part number 9 from that link is the hose i’m referring too.
