Failed MoT, but is the garage charging too much?

Problem with your XJ? Need help with maintenance? Want to show off those new grips? This is the place.

Hello all!
Apologies for such a strange question. My bike ('98 XJ600N) failed it's MoT and requires front and rear wheel bearings being changed along with new chain, sprocket and front brake pads.

The local independent garage is asking for £600+ for this work, my gut is saying this is too much but I wonder if you could provide some guidance?

They also said the "chain sprocket bearing" needed changing and is a specialist part for such an old bike and needed to be ordered in. I have no idea what that could be and might just be my ignorance. Happy to be told as much :(

Thank you so much for any help.
