Clutch issue

I bought a 2001 xj600 diversion a little while back and when I put it into gear with the clutch pulled it was stalling the bike. The bike was bought partly to Learn bits and bobs on so I've changed the clutch basket inner and outer and the clutch plates and friction plates and also the cable aswell. I left them soaking in oil overnight and now I've changed them all the rear wheel does spin when in gear and the clutch is pulled. The thing is there is still a lot of resistance when I'm spinning it. Is this Normal when new plates are fitted and if not what can I try to do to make the wheel spin more freely when in gear with the clutch lever pulled?
