I am new to this site so I hope I am posting in the right place. I bought a 92 XJ600 Seca 2 over the winter and have spent a good amount of time and money getting it ready. I have a few things I need to do before I would call it completely ready but the one thing in front of me that I cannot ignore is currently a hydrolock issue. The bike has hydrolocked on me twice. The first time was due to what I thought was a bad petcock. I had the petcock rebuilt and the bike ran fine for the next two weeks ( i don't have my endorsement yet so i was barley riding it). The last time I rode it I woke up to a hydrolocked bike the next day (gas leaking from the far left carb, which is the one it leaked from the first hydrolock, i dont know if thats important or if its just that carb because thats the way the bike leans on its kickstand). From what I have researched my issue is likely in my carbs with float needles which angers me cause I've paid to have the carbs looked at and cleaned twice( like i said im VERY new to this. this is my first bike ever). I am not sure if im capable of taking apart the carbs at this point and putting them back together so I would be taking it to a mechanic. My question is how to I fix the hydrolock? Do I just take off the plugs and turn it over to get the gas out then change the oil because it probably contaminated, is there anything more i need to do other than this or is this something I'm capable of doing myself? I've changed the oil on my car many times. Also since the issue is likely carb related, could i somehow pinch off my fuel line to my carb to keep it from hydro locking again? Is the issue my carbs or my petcock? Either way, if i fixed the hydrolock would there be any way i could keep the bike from doing it again until i can have it looked at by someone with more knowledge than myself?
Sorry for the book, Hope I' posting to the right place. Any advice would be wonderfully appreciated
