When I start my XJ900F Yamaha from 1988 it keeps rattling noise that settles up when the engine warms up.
When starting my -88 XJ900F when engine is cold it keeps rattling noise below 1200rpm. If the idle gets under 1000rpm the rattling noise is very noticeable. The rattling noise settles up when the engine warms up, but at very low idle speed, for example when the idle gets below 1000rpm at launching off the rattle can be heard.
I can try to post an video about the sound later, but does anybody has clue that is the rattling sound like that normal or any idea what could be causing that? I myself think it could be the cam tensioner or cam retaining chain that has been worn, but shouldn't it keep noise also when the engine warms up? Now the noise is at loudest just after cold start.
One thing also came to my mind; the carb synchronization. Could unsynchronized carbs also cause rattling sound?
