I checked my shims last night and noticed that the number on the shim and the actual measured thicknesses are off by a little. My "282" actually measures 2.84mm. This is with the oil cleaned off of the shim. The difference really doesn't matter except for one valve where the wrong replacement shim could put me out of spec. Which should I trust; the number on the shim or my caliper?
