I believe the colour you're after is called "Mature Red", and its Yamaha colour code is MRE.

However, I'm not 100% sure, so don't take my word for it. Check for yourself that this is correct before buying the paint.

Look up your bike here using your VIN number, year of manufacture and model:
https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/yam ... refix.aspx

And then look up the colour code here:

CM3 which is the colour code for my 1997 XJ600s. ( only produced in that colour that year )
As far as I know the Seca II was not sold in that colour in the US...

I don't understand what it matters if the Seca II came in that color or not. Take the color code to Colorite and order some touch up paint or search eBay and Amazon for premixed bottles.

BTW, CM3 is Cyan Metallic, not red. You should double check your paint code. It's usually on a sticker on the inside of the left hand tail plastic.

Yup i did it properly. I got a huge long paint code which apparently formed an ICI number, went to a specialist, well u don't want my story of how i became the broken man i now am...

End result, the correct silver undercoat and lacquer topcoat and the full monty later, it only matches if u don't look carefully.

I believe i could have matched it better by wye, but better still go to a good body shop and ask them to mix some? I know, u don't have all the spray gear.

My experience 'by the numbers' was disappointing, i wasn't aiming for passable, which is what i got in the end! There are two reds pne is plain gloss the other a metallic off-red.

I will rummage virtually speaking, for the 8 digit or whatever code...
Current bike year 2000 Yamaha XJ600N also called Seca II or Diversion 600. On an older bike air cooling is a blessing, no sludge and complexity of badly-maintained liquid cooling. Other bikes were: BMW K100 roadster; Honda VF750S Sabre with anti-dive.
