I have been bouncing an idea around in my head for many months. It was seeded in the self-designed motorcycle thread but has grown a bit.

If you all are like me, you've amassed a ton of extra XJ parts. They likely aren't perfect but useable and you keep them around just-in-case. Well, what do you all think about a community-built XJ?

Essentially, we'd build an XJ from all the spare parts we have on this site. And then we'd give the XJ away to someone who deserves it. I could be responsible for sourcing a frame and getting a title. From there, we could figure out what we want to do with it (custom, fighter, café, stock, etc) and then build the thing in the motorcycle shop in Denver.

Once done, we could give it away as part of a site contest (like, say, the treasure hunt or . . . ;) ) or to someone who needs it?!

Thoughts?

I got some parts... My girlfriend wants me to get rid of alot of it, and it's high time I do, so I can certainly donate some stuff. I'd give some of it up to support the site.

Add me to the list. I have front and back rims w/ tires on them already.

sounds like a good idea.

I'll probably have a ton of extras when I'm done stripping the no title parts bike.

Custom fighters did the same thing (even though it's taken years to build)
The other option is to sell it in auction and the money goes to a charity.

But I'm up for donating what I can.

I wanna try making genuine carbon neck infills to sell, if it works out I'll donate a set [emoji106]

I'm game! I've no use for my old fairing and gauge cluster, and would just assume get them out of my garage. Though I'm sure shipping wouldn't be pretty....

Great idea.

Detonations post gives me an idea. What if we did a custom, one off, naked XJ, and we each made parts for it. Deto could do his infills, I could make the brackets for the headlights and gauges, etc.

Sounds good to me! I can't make anything myself, but I've a friend with a 3D printer.........got to be something useful that could be done.
