Failed my UK Bike Test!!

Post by J4MRU » Fri May 06, 2016 5:39 pm

Hi all,

Today, I failed my module 2 Bike test and all because I keep forgetting to cancel my turn signals!!

During my run out's with my instructor, I have been a nightmare in remembering to cancel them. I put this down to being a car driver for so long and being used to the self cancel feature in most cars! :ponder:

I was able to cancel them quite a bit for the first part of the test because I was super aware of it but I need to remember EVERYTIME because the test is over £70 every time.

Anyway, do any of you have a good way of remembering to cancel them? It's frustrating the hell out of me.

Muscle memory. That's pretty much it.

What a dumb thing for them to fail you over.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Woah Eddy.... cancelling your blinker is VERY important, it's one of the main reasons that cars pull out in front of you, they see your blinker and think you're turning, so they think it's safe to pull out !

Are you taking your test on your own bike or the training school bike ?
If it's on your own bike you could fit a buzzer to your indicators, annoying as hell but it WILL make you cancel them :)

I'm using the Bike Schools ER-6n, which I quite like.

But that's a great idea for my own bike. Either that or a big bright light on the handlebars. :???:

You can install a beeper so whenever you engage turning lights it beeps. I know several guys which installed it. It is simple. It can be annoying in everyday life but it serve the purpose. Just buy a Chinese relay with beeper included. It has two contacts but differently positioned so almost plug&play. You can order it on aliexpress. Hope this helps.

Did you end up passing? Sorry if I missed that. Hope you did.

I just kept hitting cancel, and I'll do this when riding sometimes without even thinking just to make sure.
