Is there a thread on how to install a horn? I saw a wiring diagram and a post, but didn't see a how to. Just curious as I am trying to figure this out.

Thanks!

Al

It's typically mounted to the frame, left-hand side, near the coil. There should be a bracket there. If not, when the previous owner built the bike, he cut it off. A good place to mount it is down below the headset. There are two holes in the frame. We usually bolt it into one of those.

The bracket is still there. I reviewed the after-market manual and the diagram again. I need to review this more. I am guessing that the color code matches? I'll have to go back to the garage and take another look.

The only item I was not sure about, is where the brown wire goes (1993 seca 2)? The brown wire it looks like it goes all the way to the brake but there are these black dots along the way and I am wondering if that means to splice it in somewhere. Total newbie obviously but looking forward to figuring it out! I did manage to install some smart home lights switches the other day that I am proud of  Now I can spend less time getting up to turn on/off lights an spend more time on xjrider.com

Sweet! The POS bike has become somewhat of a legend here. It's good to see the owner join up.

Read-up on the FZ6R shock. I think it's a good fit for that bike.

I like your avatar, btw.

Hi Team,

I am getting ready to purchase an FZ6r Shock. I was just about to hit buy now on ebay but something told me to stop and check-in with the guys first.

Thoughts on these?

I have lots of video from Daytona but haven't had time to upload it. I'll try to get a video on with the sound of the engine and exhaust soon.

Thanks,

Al

There's no millage for any of them, so if I were you, I would take the newest one (first).

Newer is better when it comes to shocks. But you might scan the Yamaha parts catalog and make sure they didn't make changes with the latest facelift on the bike. Most of us have 2009-2011 model shocks.

2011 FZ6R shock installed! This feels like a completely different bike, I am no longer clenching my cheeks when going over some bumps.
Also new clutch cable.

I feel like I have to get used to the bike all over again. :-)
