My rear brake hates me and is planning my untimely demise.

Ever since I changed my rear hose, I have pretty poor rear brake performance - the pedal donks the exhaust and I've adjusted out all the slack. I've bled the system thoroughly, still awful. If I stamp on it, I can lock the rear wheel, but the range of travel is crazy and it feels mushy.

I'm wondering if I need to rebuild the master cylinder, or if this is a result of having a single bleed point in the banjo bolt (both stock screws seized solid years ago) but P.O. had it rock solid with same setup and 20 year old hoses.

Fortunately my front brakes are razor sharp

Any advice gratefully received!
