clutch lever/chain freeplay?

Hello all,
I've got a a few question about the clutch lever free-play. I've got too sources one says 2-3mm and the other says 10-15mm. My bike is the 2000 model so should that be set to the latter?
Same issue regarding the drive chain slack one states 30-40mm and another 45-55mm.
