I have had my 92 Seca II for 7 years. I bought it before I joined the Coast Guard. The first summer I had it, we rebuilt the top end. Since then, I haven't done much preventative maintenance. I rebuild the carbs when I needed to, got new tires, some brake pads, and thats about it. I usually don't get to ride very long. Only a few hours here and there. Traffic here is terrible so I don't commute. Ive seen too many other bikes and near misses. Anyway, I chose to take it to Saturday duty a few months ago, since traffic wasn't too bad. On my way back, I snapped the clutch cable. I got it home and it hit me. I was being extremely careless by not thoroughly checking the condition of my cables and brake lines. Im lucky it was only the clutch cable. I was able to jam it in an out of gear to get home. But the same type of failure could have occurred on my brake lines. Ive felt uneasy about the bike as whole since. So now, Im finally going to spend some money to make sure the bike is safe, reliable, and ready for longer rides.

Here's the plan:

I recently put on new brake pads, but I am having trouble finding new caliper seals to order. I need front and rear. My rear caliper piston is seized. Would replacing the seal rectify this? Does anyone know where I can get them at a reasonable price?

And finally Ill follow the how to guide for paint restoration

I haven't ordered anything yet, gonna do that later tonight after some more research of the parts. If anyone has any feedback on the parts list, it would be appreciated. I am always nervous I'm going to order the wrong thing or junk.

Also, any suggestions as to where to start? The list of sort of overwhelming.
