Anyone tried mounting a rear wheel frm a different manufacturer?

I'm thinking of mounting a Suzuki bandit rear wheel on xj600. I'm just afraid it might not fit. Looking at bandit as i was offered one and being 17", I don't have problem finding tyres. And it fits above 150 width.

Anyone has any advice on what to look out for in doing this mod?

The typical rear wheel swap is the FZR600 rear wheel. It affords a 150 or 160 rear tire and is a bolt-on plug-and-play mod. It is an 18" wheel though so tire selection is limited.

Siniraag did a rear wheel swap from an SR660 which uses a 17" wheel (but isn't sold in the US). He had to machine some custom spacers but his bike looks good with the 17" rear wheel:

The wheel came from Yamaha SZR 660 belgarda. I had to use SZR braking system also, because SZR had a smaller disk break at the rear. Breaking power suffered a lot at the rear, but still, i like it !

Hey..I noticed that the tail seems longer with a 17 inch rear. Any difference in handling?

taking corners is better because of the wider 160 tire on the back, everything else seems the same
