One of my jobs as an engineer in plant maintenance was to designate those equipment parts with long lead times necessary to have on hand in inventory to reduce down time and keep the plant running. With that same philosophy in mind I tend to stock up on those items on the bike that would be either expensive to buy from a dealer or hard to find on ebay when you needed them. Things that would put the bike out of commission until fixed like a CDI unit, set of coils, rectifier, alternator stator, starter solenoid, etc. There's a good opportunity to snag these things on ebay for cheap when just browsing, especially this time of year when fewer people are bidding for such items. Also, a little hint for those who are not necessarily ebay shoppers, never show your hand early. Have in mind how much you're willing to pay for an item and place your bid in the last 30 seconds of bidding. The bid entered for the auction is only a dollar above the previous bid but will continue to increase to cover future bids up to your limit. :1Oldman:
