Fairing Frustrations!

Well after spending hours and hundreds of dollars putting a fairing back on my XJ, I give up once and for all.

As I posted earlier I bought the wrong fairing for my 95 XJ, so I had to retrofit the 92-93 fairing to fit and get the right fairing bracket. I also fabricated this damper up to wedge between the bottom of the fairings to prevent vibration.

Went for a ride the day before my vacation and had a vibration at around 3k rpm, I'm sure I've missed some dampers somewhere I'll deal with it after vacation.

The day of vacation the vibration worsens to everywhere about 3k rpms. 4-5k the absolute worst. No mind, ear plugs I'll ignore it through my trip.

I get the bike loaded in the back of my truck and halfway up I-75 in kentucky I flip on my cargo light and see the fairing flapping around. I pull over and find both side rubber insulators have failed miserably!

So I unhook the rest of it, put in in the truck bed and make my way to Missouri.

My vacation was a flop anyways, but to make matters worse I blew out the rear shock in some of St. Louis' wonderful potholes, as well as the bike didn't like my carb jetting for mountain altitudes. Loaded it up and went home.

Started pulling the fairing apart and this is what I found.

the bottom of the fairing actually broke as well. Not sure what came first but I don't think I'm going to go back and try the other fairing I bought yet. Don't mind that black silicone tried to remount and see if that was causing the vibration since the bottom piece was letting/let go.

Really thinking about going back to a naked/streetfighter if I can find a gauge set up I like. Anyone got a radian/Fazer or custom setup they want to sell? Other wise the XJ and it's parts bike goes up in the divorce sale.
