Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid. Case in point. I hopped on my new-to-me XJ600 and took off for a little ride. About five minutes in, something went badly wrong. The bike would barely idle, wouldn't accelerate, and wopudl barely run. I spun around and headed home, my mind filled with bad thoughts. Head gasket? Did I eat an exhaust valve? Did I hole a piston? It was running THAT bad. As I got to my street, barely making ten mph, I had an epiphany. With a little smile I reached down and dturned the petcock to RES. Vroooom! Off I went. Whew!
That was dumb. It was made exponentially more dumb by the fact that I knew I was low on gas, and I actually practiced reaching down and turning the fuel valve to RES before I took off the first time. Pitiful, really.
