Although I wasn't riding it at the time I will explain the Scenario of events that unfolded that led to damage to my Seca.
Sarah and I have been living in a Hotel for the last month and just now moved into our new place. While we were at the hotel I had the bike and my small trailer in one parking spot. I had blocked the trailer yoke up so it didn't melt into the blacktop. The ground was mostly level so didn't think anything of it. I came home from work one night during the first week and found the trailer had rolled down the parking lot about 5 foot and struck my XJ on the right side. It put a good sized ding in my exhaust can.

The last three months have been really hard on the old girl. She looks battered and abused and the feedback from her is not good. She is generally unhappy. I guess just like any relationship I need to sit down and spend some time with her before riding her again. Maybe we can work things out...

Went on a ride with the old lady. Came very close to hitting some deer and a turkey! Other than that we had a nice 80 mile ride together

I'll TELL what happened while riding my Seca II today! THIS happened!

Image

I was planning to shoot the milestone as a video, but I was doing 75 mph at that moment! I heard a little bird singing the obituary of the biker tragically killed before his time while he was doing something more stupid than texting while driving - namely shooting macro videos while riding at 75 mph. Ohhh, what WAS he thinking?

So...pats on my back anyone? Better a still photo than a dead photographer? :)

Nice! Isn't it amazing what easy lives our bikes live? 30k on a 20yo bike = 1,500 mi/year = ~13% of the average car.

On the flip-side, I'm abusing my senior citizen. Ruby is a '93 that had 5,381 miles when I got her in March. 5k on a 20yo bike = 250 mi/year = ~2% of the average car. I'm doing my part to make up for that, though. I've put almost 4k on her just since March, so she's currently right around the auto average of 1k/month...and that's with me having to drive the van still on some days. My commute sucks.

When you put it that way, even the 56K I've put on my '92 seems paltry...

It's the devil's work, it is! Lordee, Lordee, it's the devil's twins' work...wait just a minute now - ain't that little pitcha right there the devil hisself? Oh, Lordee, I git it now! :)

P.S. Way to upstage me, spr1. And what kind of name is THAT anyway? spr1...hmmmff! :)

And to the Cafe man - it's not the accomplishment of RIDING 30K that I'm looking to get kudos for, silly... it's for the wisdom of pulling over to document it! Sheesh! What do ya gotta do ta get a little respect around here? Get a handle like "1Oldman" and start dispensing great mechanical wisdom? I lose on THAT criteria! :)

While riding my bike Friday I noticed that the bike sounded different so I inspected the bike quickly while riding on the service road. After the quick inspection I notice that the screw holding the fairing came off smh, I pull over to make sure everything is ok and while double checking the fairing I see my fuel line laying on the engine. While shifting it away from the engine I notice that the engine was burning a hole in to the fuel line.

those two small oil spills under the bike isn't from my seca :)
