Well, that's a thing. Good luck. Any plans for the front end?

Tear down

There appears to be no damage on the block, but parts have been removed prior to me. If any of this is something you are interested in, send me a PM. While I dont have a true machine shop, I can clean everything up.

Rear rim and bearings are in excellent shape. I was really surprised with the bearings, and axle. Tire is not good. Melted plastic/electronic goop

I'll most likely have an update in the next few days. But in the meantime..

Tomorrow I plan on having the black motor, swing-arm, little bits I am keeping, and rear rim washed up.

Plans are ( eventually)

.updated front and rear end ( shocks/forks/rims/brakes).
.clip-on bars.
.Tank ( mostly likely from another bike) I love the stock tank, but to be honest, that has always been a dead give away.
.Rear section could be a one-off custom vaccuum formed piece. ( maybe) if not, I will probly go something like the R6, or similar.
. Rear sets will either be from the '98 version, or, from another bike, and fabbed to fit.
.Headlight will be something akin to a Grom, M-109, or the Honda Nm04-01.. ( but that is a $700 unit. Not going to happen unless i get VERY lucky ) most likely the Grom. Will see.

Pics, and sketches in a few days.

Interesting note: Apparently majority of XJ riders were " only form of transport" riders. Reason I say is because I noticed both the motors share the same flaw. Broken case, near the front sprocket.

The black motor had so much grease, and tar build up, I found a master link! And the screw that was missing to the sensor/switch. :P

I have a name for the bike.

Shiden Kai... Japanese for "Violet Lightning".

Couple of reasons.

Nk1 George - It's japanese. So is Yamaha.

I am a fan of aviation.

Specifically WWII planes.

" George" was our allied code name for the NK1 (NAKAJIMA).. The zero was built by Mitsubishi... I don't want a bike named after a car maker....but nakajima...most wont guess the error. ;)

the "George, was a nimble, decent all rounder. ( like our beloved XJ 600's ) i dabble in artwork from time to time. I redid some artwork recently with my first Concept drawing of a micro electric bike ...called...shiden kai. ( if you look in the upper right hand corner, you see my original version from the 80s or 90s) i love violet/purple/magenta... So "violet lightning" Shiden Kai ties it all together.

Getting the frame media blasted this or next week. ( farmed out to a company that can handle the frame) i will be doing the valve cover and other bits this week. Pics will arrive soon. ( been spending a lot of time on the girlfriends ninjette, which. That thread has been updated.
