I finally stripped this bike down. The engine need a good cleaning so I'll try to do that this week. I was told by the PO that the frame is bent on the left hand side but I really don't see where.

Yesterday I took a ride to Lancaster PA (4 hour ride) to pick up a frame, engine and many other parts from Capriotti613. On my way I stopped at Cracker Barrel for some blue berry pancakes since NY City doesn't have one
. Capriotti613, thank you so much and It was nice meeting you.

This is the frame and the engine in the right hand corner that I picked up from Capriotti613.

In the picture right of the engine, that frame is bend like crazy at the rear or it could be the camera lens effect.

I have to find a local welder who can remove one of these faring brackets and add it to the new frame. Capriotti613 must have been going for the naked look. I guess it would be cheaper to go naked...what do you guys think?

I lined up the frames together to try and see where it's bent. Honestly, I still don't see it.

They've got the same bend!
I think it was an illusion with how the light and shadows were making the rear of the tail look a little off kilter.

I'm not seeing a bend in any of the photos. I think you've got a good frame there.
For $100, you can buy a simple wire-feed welder from HF that would work for welding those tabs back on. Alternatively, you could come up with a clever way to fabricate a bracket that clamps onto the frame at that point. OR, you could joins us in the naked realm. It's fun out here with no fairings.

I love the naked look, however, I've noticed that having a windshield is so helpful on windy days.radare wrote: you could joins us in the naked realm. It's fun out here with no fairings.

go naked! I love it - also, 80mph feels more like a ton on a naked bike so its good for your licence :ponder:
I've been thinking "what would I do" for the colour scheme as I'm keeping my eye out for a wreck to base a project on
I'm thinking bright blue frame and wheels with white metallic bodywork and some kind of blockwork or offset blue strip to match, blue chain/brake pipes/levers etc. not sure for the engine, maybe black or dark silver with blue for the details
feel free to test it so I get to see it without committing anything
